They escape their homes. They attempt to restart life elsewhere. Refugees. Asylum seekers. Exiles. Words we hear and use every day. Words with layers of meaning lost in translation. In a conversation on displacement, the legal definitions attached to each word and the real experiences of displaced individuals are unpacked. I like keeping track of local art receptions and events, and have been doing that for about a year at jackgiesen.com. Right now I’m experimenting with a WordPress calendar that will make it easier.
Information on events comes from public information available on venue and artist websites as well as social media. All images are used with permission of the gallery or artist and should not be reused without permission.
